Through this portal, various types of distributorship formats are defined: Shehri Vitrak (Urban), Rurban Vitrak, Gramin Vitrak (Rural), and Durgam Kshetriya Vitrak (DKV) for remote / difficult-terrain / sparsely populated areas. The portal periodically publishes advertisements / notices about openings for new LPG distributors in different states. Applicants who satisfy eligibility undergo a draw/lottery-based selection. 📋 Eligibility & Conditions (What you must satisfy to apply) As per general guidelines for LPG distributorship via LPG Vitarak Chayan / OMCs: Applicant must be Indian citizen and resident of India. Minimum educational qualification — typically 10th pass (though exemptions may exist e.g. for certain categories like Freedom-Fighter quota) Age of applicant usually between 21 and 60 years at time of application. Applicant should not be a close relative (family member) of an OMC employee (to avoid conflict of interest) at time of application. The candidate must have adequate infrastructure readiness: typically land/space for LPG godown/ cylinder storage, or ability to arrange for it. The applicant should not be blacklisted or earlier have had a distributorship terminated due to proven malpractices/adulteration. 🔎 Process: How It Works 1. Periodic advertisement: When a state/region has scope for adding new distributors, OMCs announce it — these are published via LPG Vitarak Chayan site. 2. Online application: Interested eligible persons apply via the portal, submitting required documents (identity, address proof, educational certificate, bank statements, etc.) before deadline. 3. Document scrutiny and draw (lottery): If number of applicants is more than available distributorships, OMCs conduct a draw of lot to select distributors fairly. 4. Post-selection: Selected candidates need to submit additional documents, create/lease or build approved godown, get statutory clearances, and finalize agreement with OMC before starting operations. ⚠️ Important Warnings & What to Beware The portal itself warns users about fraudulent websites or agencies impersonating LPG distributorship opportunity providers, asking for money. The official process never asks for advance money — only through formal OMC-advertised route. Many “similar sounding” domains may exist — you should verify carefully against official announcements from OMCs. Having physical infrastructure (land/warehouse for cylinder storage) and adhering to safety/regulatory norms is not optional. LPG distributorship involves storage of hazardous cylinders — proper regulatory licensing (e.g. from explosive/gas-storage authorities) is mandatory.
