A mile long section of this road is due to be pedestrianised and closed to traffic. This will give more space to pedestrians, boosting growth and transforming the area. All vehicles, including buses, cars and taxis, will be banned from a certain stretch of Oxford Street. Subject to approvals, work to pedestrianisation work will begin on the 2nd of September. Around 25 bus routes will be affected by temporary road closures. Oxford Street is expected to go fully traffic-free by mid to late October 2026. Oxford Street will be closed to traffic from Orchard Street (Selfridges), To Great Portland Street (after Oxford Circus Stn). Bus routes 7, 94, 98, 139 and 390 will be affected by the pedestrianisation. At night, routes N7, 94 (24hr), N98, N113, N137, 139 (24hr), N207 and 390 (24hr) will also change. Two bus stops; Selfridges and Oxford Circus/John Lewis, will close permanently. Replacement bus stops will be located a short walk north of Oxford Street. With several bus routes being re-routed to stop at Wigmore Street and Henrietta Place. Route 7 runs between East Acton and Oxford Circus. While route 94 runs between Piccadilly Circus and Acton Green. The 7 and 94 will both be cut back to terminate at Marble Arch. The 7 will no longer terminate at Oxford Circus, While the 94 will no longer terminate at Piccadilly Circus. Route 98 runs between Willesden, Pound Lane and Holborn, Red Lion Square. Route 139 runs between Golders Green and Waterloo Station. Route 390 runs between Archway and Victoria. The 98, 139 and 390 will not be cut back, and will instead be re-routed. Buses will serve Wigmore Street and Henrietta Place, a short walk from Oxford Street. Night routes N7, N98, N113, N137 and N207 currently serve Oxford Street. Route N7 runs between Northolt and Oxford Circus, Route N98 runs between Stanmore Station and Holborn, Red Lion Square, Route N113 runs between Edgware Station and Trafalgar Square, Route N137 runs between Oxford Circus and Crystal Palace, And route N207 runs between Uxbridge and Holborn. Routes N7 and N137 will be cut back to terminate at Marble Arch. Routes N98 and N207 will be re-routed via Wigmore Street and Henrietta Place. Temporary Arrangements: Despite work to pedestrianise Oxford Street starting in a few days, Buses currently running on Oxford Street will not be permanently changed for a month. Changes to road layouts include temporary road closures and diversions. Routes 2, 7, 13, 55, 73, 74, 94, 98, 113, 139, 189, 205, 274 and 390 will be affected. With the N2, N7, N8, N25 N55, N73, N74, N98, N113, N137 and N207 also changing. Changes will happen in phases, with different bus routes affected at different times. Where possible, work will mainly be carried out overnight to minimise disruption. Meaning night routes are expected to be changed the most. Route 310 The 310 will be changed in 3 separate ways on the 5th of September 2026. The 310 will be rerouted between Archway and Finsbury Park, serving different stops. The route will now serve Upper Holloway Station, Holloway Road, Holloway Nag's Head and Seven Sisters Road. The 310 will follow routes 17, 43 and 263 from Archway to Holloway. It will then follow routes 4, 29, 253, 254 and 259 between Holloway and Finsbury Park. Route 310 will stop serving the area of Crouch Hill due to its reroute. Passengers should use route 210 between Archway, Crouch Hill and Finsbury Park. At Stamford Hill, the 310 will be extended by one stop. Buses will now start and finish on Rookwood Road instead of Stamford Hill Broadway. This will serve a larger part of the Jewish community the route was created for. The 310 will continue to run every 20 minutes on all days of the week. However, instead of finishing at 7-8pm at night, The 310 will now run into the night, stopping at around midnight. Buses will continue to run every 20 minutes at night. New StreetDeck Electroliners will enter service on the 310 in the future.
