I examine the sleep pod made from aluminium foil bubble sheeting, black plastic and bamboo, explaining how trapped air, reflected heat and its compact shape help protect one person from wind and rain. I also look at what happens when condensation, wet weather and a long storm expose its limits. I trace the pod’s journey from refugee camps to streets across the UK, including how volunteers, prisons, charities and frontline teams help build and distribute it. Most importantly, I explore why this is emergency protection rather than housing, and what it reveals about rough sleeping, severe weather rules and the need for lasting support.
