The Green Lantern Corps has always been more interesting than any individual Green Lantern. And the 21st century version proved it. In this episode of Xpanded Universe's Green Lantern Corps season, Michael Allen Lake and Mairead Blue pick up where they left off — covering the destruction of the original Corps in Emerald Twilight, the long road back through Rebirth and Recharge, and what made the rebuilt Corps something genuinely special. The new Corps wasn't just bigger. It was deeper — two lanterns per sector instead of one, sector houses for rest and reinforcement, a yellow impurity that now meant something philosophically rather than just mechanically, and a cast of non-Earth characters finally given room to breathe. Kilowog finding his footing as drill sergeant while quietly grieving the community he left behind. Isamot and Vath — enemies by birth, partners by assignment — learning to work across a cultural divide that runs deeper than species. And Mogo (a sentient planet) and his role in ring reassignment and mental health support for the Corps. Guy Gardner, who should by any measure be one of the most decorated members of the Corps, still unable to let go of the fact that Hal Jordan was five feet closer to a dying alien's spaceship. Comics, people. They contain multitudes. 00:00 Introduction 02:38 Emerald Twilight — How DC Destroyed the Corps 03:56 The Road Back — Rebirth and Resurrection 05:18 What Changed — The New Rules of the Reborn Corps 08:34 Mogo's New Role — Ring Reassignment and Mental Health 12:31 Kilowog — From Random Guy to Legendary Drill Sergeant 16:35 Guy Gardner vs Hal Jordan — Different Kinds of Leadership 20:09 The Corps as a Wider Canvas for Storytelling
