Day of Destruction: Hurricane Katrina Slidell, Louisiana

The Telly Award winning video. On August 29, 2005, Slidell, Louisiana, took a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina. The resulting storm surge engulfed over 40 percent of the city, and the storm's winds damaged or destroyed over 90 percent of homes and businesses. We vowed we'd be back, stronger and better. We've kept that promise. On August 29, 2015, we will celebrate ten years of recovery and rebirth.
