It is Halloween night, and you are taking your little brother trick or treating. At the first house, a clown opens the door. Two streets later, there is another one. Same white face. Same green hair. Same smile. On the third street, there is a clown on every porch… and you are the only one left wearing a different costume.
This is a CastVenk Halloween Safety Notice. CastVenk calls them the Same. They do not chase. They do not grab. They only need you to match.
Seven rules. Most people break the third one. The seventh one tells you it is already too late.

🔬 THE REAL SCIENCE BEHIND THE NOTICE
• Anonymity changes behavior: in a 1976 study, researchers watched more than 1,300 trick-or-treaters. Children who came alone and were asked their names rarely took extra candy (about 7%); children in anonymous groups took extra far more often (more than half). They called it deindividuation. Diener, Fraser, Beaman & Kelem, 1976, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

• The real danger of Halloween is traffic: across 42 years of U.S. data, the risk of pedestrian death on Halloween was about 43% higher than on comparison nights, and roughly 10 times higher for children aged 4 to 8, most often between 5 and 8 p.m. Staples, Yip & Redelmeier, 2019, JAMA Pediatrics.

• Masks vs. face paint: Health Canada recommends make-up or face paint instead of masks, because a badly fitted mask can block a child's vision or breathing. Patch-test face paint first.

• Costume contact lenses: the U.S. FDA says decorative contact lenses are medical devices that require a prescription; lenses from novelty and Halloween stores have been linked to infections and corneal ulcers.

• Poisoned candy is (almost entirely) a myth: sociologist Joel Best reviewed decades of news reports and found no documented case of a stranger poisoning children's Halloween candy. The infamous 1974 Texas case was a father who poisoned his own son.
🛡 REAL ADVICE: put reflective tape on costumes, carry a flashlight, cross at corners under streetlights, choose face paint over masks, never buy costume contact lenses without a prescription, and check candy wrappers.
⚠️ FICTION NOTICE
The Same, the case files (071, 112, 199) and the CastVenk broadcast are fictional, created for entertainment. The scientific facts listed above are real and linked to their sources.
