ASMR Palette Knife Painting: Intense Desert (Soft Spoken, 2.5 Hours)

Relaxing Palette Knife Painting ASMR: Watch as I create a vibrant painting of an intense desert scene, featuring acid pools, salt formations, and an expressive landscape of stone, sand, and heat using oil paint, palette knife, and a little bit of brushing. For this painting, the commission brief asked for a daytime desert painting, nothing man-made, something that makes you feel small and treacherous to cross. I did some research and landed on the Danakil Depression in northern Ethiopia. It sits along a tectonic plate, has acidic lakes, active volcanoes, and is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit basically all year round. It looks completely otherworldly despite being a real place on earth. I worked with oils and wax on a 24x24 maple board, building up shadows first to get the structure, then layering glazes and wax to get the salt flats and water glowing the way they needed to. In my earlier recordings, I mostly set up the camera and audio recording gear, forget about them, and get into the drawing and painting.
