Morning by the Seine 1950s ☀️🇫🇷
Begin the day beside the Seine.
This collection takes you to a quiet Paris morning in the 1950s — when riverside bookstalls opened their shutters, cafés prepared for the day, boats moved slowly along the water and the sound of an accordion could drift through the streets.
THE MORNING — PARIS IN THE 1950s
The Seine was more than a river running through Paris. Its banks were part of everyday city life, lined with bookstalls, cafés, bridges, markets and places where people could pause and watch the city move around them.
The post-war years brought a changing Paris, but many familiar elements of everyday Parisian life remained: morning cafés, newspapers, riverside walks and small-scale musical entertainment.
This collection imagines one of those quieter mornings.
THE SOUND OF MUSETTE
The music draws inspiration from the French musette tradition, particularly the intimate accordion-led sound associated with Parisian cafés and dance spaces.
The arrangements are deliberately light and acoustic. Accordion carries the melodies, while acoustic rhythm guitar and upright bass provide a gentle foundation.
Rather than dramatic orchestration, the music leaves room for small details — the sound of water, birds in the distance and the feeling of an unhurried morning.
THE INSTRUMENTS
🪗 Accordion — The central melodic voice, bringing the unmistakable warmth and flowing character of French musette.
🎸 Acoustic Guitar — Provides gentle rhythmic movement and harmonic support beneath the accordion.
🎻 Upright Bass — Adds a warm low foundation while keeping the music light and intimate.
🥁 Light Percussion — Subtle brushes and hand percussion provide movement without overwhelming the acoustic instruments.
🐦 Birds & River Ambience — Natural environmental sounds help create the atmosphere of a peaceful morning beside the Seine.
A MORNING BESIDE THE SEINE
Imagine arriving at the river just after sunrise.
The bookstalls are beginning to open.
A café prepares its first tables.
A newspaper lies beside a cup of coffee.
Boats move quietly beneath the bridges.
Pigeons wander across the cobblestones.
Somewhere nearby, an accordion begins to play.
There is no rush.
Paris is simply waking up.
