“I did not have a Karan Johar backing me up…” | Zareen Khan on Nepotism & Struggles in Bollywood

From slamming nepotism and favoritism in Bollywood to tearing apart the toxic paparazzi culture, Zareen Khan is raw, unfiltered, bold, and brutally honest. She questions why today’s star kids seem more obsessed with looks than craft, comparing them to previous generations of “nepo kids” who worked hard to be successful. She points fingers at the favouritism of directors and calls out the industry’s obsession with friendships over talent, reflecting on how she never had the privilege of big names backing her up in her acting journey. Along the way, she talks about Deepika Padukone, Rakhi Sawant, Alaya F, Junaid Khan, and uses YouTube stars like Ashish Chanchlani, Bhuvan Bam, Prajakta Koli, and Khushha Kapila—using them as proof that you can carve your own path without begging for work. Whether it’s mocking “frivolous” films like Naadaniyan, flaming bloodthirsty paparazzi, or challenging the thirst-trap culture online, this is Zareen Khan at like you have never seen her before—candid, fearless, and unapologetically real. ----------------------------------------------- Timestamps 00:00 - Intro 01:47 - What is different about Zareen Khan? 03:32 - Cosmetic Surgery 07:20 - Paparazzi Culture 12:53 - Sensationlization and Pap Culture 16:37 - On Star Kids, Bollywood, and Nepotism 21:24 - Saiyaara, Ibrahim Khan, and Bollywood Directors 24:59 - Star Kids and Opportunities 26:28 - Zareen Khan gets personal 27:40 - On Future Projects and getting Opportunities 31:05 - Attention Spans and the Changing Industry 33:20 - Thirst Traps and Hate Story 35:22 - On Production 36:45 - On Happiness 38:10 - On Marriage 42:02 - Trust Issues ----------------------------------------------- Credits Memorable Conversations, concept by Faridoon Shahryar Presented by Kaysh Charania, Gas Express, Circle K, Kangaroo Express Director: Rahul Nigam Video equipment, location: Flying Squad Studio, Mumbai Post Production: Maverick Media Consultant - Ritesh Srivastava (Expansion AI/PR/Digital/Marketing) Media Partner: Genesis CSP Social Media Manager Ambika Pareek, Piyali Media Food partner: Girika Farm Core team of writers: Aarefa Shahryar, Insha Shahryar Research: Aavishkar DOP - Prem Raval Cinematographer - Pratham Parihar Ohm Gurjar Sound Engineer- Sanidhya Nigam Production - 360 Visuals Production Head - Shourya Nigam Production Cordinator Vivan Modi Sharad Verma BTS - Janak Parihar Stills - Dhruv Special Thanks: Saranjit Kahlon, Masroor Qureshi ----------------------------------------------- Legacy Conversations with Faridoon Shahryar:    • Legacy Conversations with Faridoon Shahryar   Memorable Conversations with Faridoon Shahryar:    • Memorable Conversations with Faridoon Shah...   ----------------------------------------------- Connect with Me :- Facebook -   / faridoon.shahryar   Twitter -   / ifaridoon   Instagram -   / ifaridoon   Youtube -    / faridoons   ----------------------------------------------- #faridoonshahryar #bollywoodinterview #bollywoodpodcast #zareenkhan
