Day 5. DADES GORGE TO AMESKAR CYCLING HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS MORROCO

starting from the homestay, I descended on the famous dades switchbacks and passed through the stunning gorge. after passing monkey fingers rocks , sculpted by years of erosion , I turned off onto a shortcut over the mountains. a very quiet road that took me over a range of mountains, descending into a small village. crossing the river , it was up the other side of the valley to descend once again. joining the rr317 yet more climbing up to a pass. stunning views of the region and the snow capped peaks . from the pass the route descended in probably the best downhill of the tour. Great views down the valley and the surrounding mountains. on reaching the valley, I met 3 Polish lads heading the other way. continuing down the valley to arrive at ameskar, a traditional berber village. a night in the gite with 7 America cyclists on a supported tour.
