We Were Heading To Germany… Until We Found THIS On Google Maps 😳

We thought we knew exactly where we were going next… until something strange on Google Maps made us completely change our plans 😳 What was supposed to be a straightforward drive into Germany suddenly turned into a detour to one of the most unusual places we’ve found on this entire Europe trip — a tiny star-shaped fortress town we had never even heard of. We couldn’t just drive past without finding out what it was, so before leaving the Netherlands we headed into Bourtange to explore the fortress, its strange layout and some of the history hidden inside its walls. And honestly, it turned out to be the perfect final surprise before crossing the border. Then Germany begins… and things very quickly become a little more chaotic 😂 We head towards Bad Bentheim, Ashlie somehow ends up in a slightly questionable situation, and our first ever trip to a German supermarket definitely doesn’t go quite to plan.
