Watch the incredible journey of a handmade Bokhara carpet from raw wool to finished masterpiece. Every single knot is tied by hand, and a single carpet can take months to complete. The Bokhara design is one of the oldest and most iconic carpet styles in the world. Originally created by Turkmen tribes of Central Asia, this craft has been passed down through generations and is now kept alive by skilled artisans in Pakistan. In this video, you will see the complete process including wool spinning and dyeing using traditional techniques, setting up the loom and preparing the foundation, hand knotting thousands of knots per square inch, trimming and shearing the pile to an even surface, washing and sun drying the finished carpet, and the final inspection and quality check. A single Bokhara carpet can contain over 500,000 hand-tied knots, and each one is placed with precision to create the signature octagonal medallion pattern on a rich red background. This is not factory production. This is human skill, patience, and artistry at its finest.
