Brown rollrim (Paxillus involutus) is a brown mushroom with yellow-brown gills, common in forests, parks and lawns across Finland. For generations people picked it, marinated it and fried it. Then it turned out that eating it again and again can make your body attack its own red blood cells. This is rare, but it has killed people, including the mycologist Julius Schäffer in 1944.
