Absolutely! 🚨 A MUST-WATCH FOR FREIGHT FANS! 🚨 This video features BOTH of GBRf's new Class 99 locomotives — 99001 and 99004 — captured working on diesel under the electrified West Coast Main Line at Walsall. You'll also see 99001 treating everyone trackside to a fantastic tune on the horns! With both locomotives appearing in the same day, this is a rare opportunity to see Britain's newest freight locomotives in action before they become a more familiar sight on the network. Welcome back to Trains & Freight Diaries! Today's visit takes us to Walsall Station, where I spent over six hours filming between 10:00 and 16:30. Although freight can sometimes be unpredictable, Walsall certainly didn't disappoint, providing a steady stream of passenger services mixed with some excellent freight and engineering workings. The biggest highlights of the day were undoubtedly the appearance of both GBRF Class 99 locomotives, including 99001 on 4L68, whose driver kindly entertained everyone with a fantastic sequence of horn tones, followed later by 99004 on 4M01, which also features on today's thumbnail. One small observation from the day... it certainly wouldn't hurt if the vegetation between Platforms 1 and 2 received a trim, as it's becoming rather overgrown in places and slightly obscures some of the views for photographers and enthusiasts.
