NO ALEX EALA, NO EXCITEMENT? Wuhan Open Fans Face A BIG Question After Her Exit!

Wuhan Open fans face a BIG question after her exit! 🎾🔥 The Filipina star, ranked No. 18 in the world and widely regarded as the most popular player on the WTA Tour, crashed out of both the singles and doubles draws in the opening rounds . A stunning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 loss to world No. 217 Shi Han in the singles. A straight-sets defeat alongside Zeynep Sönmez in the doubles. Two matches. Two losses. Zero wins. And she wasn't alone. Zheng Qinwen, the hometown hero and China Open champion, withdrew before the tournament even began citing fatigue and a shoulder injury . Two of the biggest stars in the sport, gone before the tournament found its rhythm. So what happens when the biggest draws walk out the door? The Eala effect is unlike anything the sport has seen. Her Instagram following quadrupled in a single year. The Canadian Open director called her impact "unprecedented" . But the Wuhan Open has its own star. Zheng Qinwen sold out early bird tickets in a single day . The tournament expects nearly 200,000 fans over nine days. The WTA's own data shows women's tennis growing across every measure . So is Wuhan losing its appeal? The answer is complicated. For the hardcore fan, the tennis is still elite. For the casual fan, the story has changed. But one thing is certain: Alex Eala is not just a tennis player. She is a movement. And when she leaves early, the tournament feels her absence.
