This is a showcase video for IVvehicle2III. In gameplay begins at 2:00. At the time the IVvehicle2III project was completed, GTA Online had not yet released the Cheetah Classic, so some of the vehicle replacement options shown are outdated. All conversions no longer use SA dff files but instead use GTA 4’s original wft files(dff hierarchy format based on DK22Pac’s WFT to DFF tool). For the most part, the conversion process no longer relies on manual operations but instead uses maxscript to convert hierarchy, mesh attach, and other tasks. Since I’m a lazy person, I couldn’t stand wasting an whole day to rename vehicle part name and doing the same thing over and over, just to convert one car, so I chose use maxscript to convert vehicles. At that time, I was just getting started with programming, so as you can see in the video, the maxscript I demonstrated uses only basic functions like ‘if’, ‘else’, and loop. This code is certainly worse than yande** simulator dev’s, but even with just this maxscript, I still replace all 60 vehicles in GTAIII. There were many reasons why I didn’t continue with vehicle replacements (use GTAV vehicle) for VC. Setting aside the impact of real-life issues, there were primarily some annoying challenges. First, vehicle col files still couldn’t be automatically generated by a program. Second, I wanted to use the HD interior meshes from the GTAV, but this would result dff mesh with too many polygons. If I were to keep the exterior of the doors low-poly while using HD interior meshes, the conversion process would become extremely complex. Third, I haven’t yet figured out how to generate broken car door glass. In fact, for this conversion, I just removed the glass from the damaged doors, simulates the effect of smashing a car window in GTAIV. I know there are LLM out there now, but setting aside the fact that I think these AIs are pretty "idiot", I'm poor and I don't want to pay for an AI subscription.
