BARBIE: DREAMSCAPE by ALEX ASTER was simply ridiculous and bad // book review // rant and reaction

you guys, i can not stress this enough: the YA Barbie: Dreamscape book by Alex Aster is just so bad. i am baffled how this even got published, genuinely. now, i don‘t want to pretend that i had great expectations for this, since i didn‘t like other works by this author, but… this is an affront to the Barbie franchise. i think, Aster wanted to offer up a younger version of the Barbie that was explored in Greta Gerwig‘s Barbie Movie from 2023… but i personally would have preffered BCU-accurate lore… BCU (famously) meaning the Barbie Cinematic Universe. the plot? crazy. non-sensical. the characters? forgettable. the dialogue? cringe. the aesthetic? millenial-core from start to finish. and way too many pink blazers. that‘s all. catch me in the next one! j, xoxo Timestamps: 00:00:00 intro, lore and research 00:22:55 plot summary 01:14:00 review and thoughts 01:46:00 how i would have written the book Want more of me?
