When adventurers and settlers traveled up the Rio Grande River in Bahia, Brazil, they stopped where rocks blocked their way. There they built a settlement and named it Barreiras, the Portuguese word for "barriers." The rocks are still in the river, and so is the town, now home to about 160,000 people. Surrounded by vast farms and cattle ranches, this isolated town is where Josh and Melissa Daniel have put down roots. They have raised a family of eight, and they have built a thriving church and outreach ministry. It was a privilege to meet them, serve alongside them, and hear their heart for reaching Barreiras with the gospel. You will be blessed by the story they share in these few minutes.
