Following some recent and frankly stupid comments I'd like to make something clear
I'm posting these videos to educate people and try and reduce the road deaths and injuries and if anyone has a problem with that they need to take a big deep look inside themselves!
A recent BBC news article posited that Northern Ireland road deaths up until the start of August were 42 - Up from 27 for the same period the previous year and works out an average of one every five days. Everyone thinks 'Oh that won't ever happen to me' and I'm sure the 42 road deaths so far this year probably thought the same. If you're reading this it's not too late to change your driving and if you're one of the featured drivers it's not too late to change your driving. Posting stupid comments blaming me for highlighting this is not going to stop me doing it nor is it going to make the roads safer. People having a bit more consideration and stopping driving / parking like twats however, will!
Ever been caught in traffic congestion caused by an RTC? Chances are it's been caused by someone driving like one of the drivers featured here
00:00 - 00:20 - And another driver with an allergy to using indicators. Ditto 05:35, 05:45
00:25 - 00:35 - Double broken white lines in front of you mean 'Give Way' not 'Pull out ahead of oncoming traffic'
00:35 - 00:42 - Amber lights mean stop if you can stop safely, and red lights mean stop. If it goes to amber from green it is not going to go back to green again and this driver is willing to risk a fine and licence points rather than wait a few minutes as he made no attempt to stop for these lights. Ditto 04:52, 08:25, 08:37
00:45 - 00:50 - Driver pulling across oncoming traffic on a 50mph limit is just stupid
00:55- 01:06 - A yellow box junction may not be entered unless you can see your exit is clear or you are turning right and your exit is blocked by oncoming traffic. Here we see two cars blocking the road by breaking this rule. Ditto 04:15
01:10 - 01:18 - And these people crossing the road against the red man on a wet night and at a junction were putting themselves at considerable risk - If someone was going full speed around the corner and not paying attention then one of them could have been hit very easily. The red man at the crossing is there for a reason!
01:20 - 04:12 - A good way to avoid following someone too close - Wait until they pass a fixed point (Tree, lamppost etc) and say 'Only a fool breaks the two second rule' if you have not finished saying it before you pass the same point you are following too closely. Ditto 05:55, 10:40
04:29 - 04:38 - At a roundabout you give way to traffic already on the roundabout or traffic coming from the right. It's also a good idea to look and see if it's clear rather than just driving onto it. Ditto 04:55, 05:05,
04:39 - 04:50 - Blocking the crossing is an offence, even if you're in a traffic queue
05:14 - 05:34 - Special mention here to about six impatient twats who drove onto the box junction when they clearly couldn't exit from it and probably didn't want to wait at the lights for a few minutes so they chose to block the road for everyone else coming through the junction. People like this are the reason a lot of councils now have box junction cameras
06:16 - 06:42 - This driver was sitting in traffic texting away. Which might not seem bad if you're in traffic but he's not paying attention to his surroundings and it's still an offence
06:44 - 08:15 - Special mention to this driver with an ROI plate. Cutting in front of me with an unsafe gap, overtaking around the line of traffic by driving on the hatch marks. Stopping on the pedestrian crossing, then tailgating me on the dual carriageway. Ridiculous!
08:58 - 09:02 - Red lights apply to cyclists as well
09:13 - 09:50 - Driving on this 60mph limit road I was overtaken by the driver of this Honda Civic who was going a fair pelt faster. He's a dick who was willing to risk a fine and three points on his licence to get one place ahead of me at the subsequent traffic lights. Did him a lot of good didn't it?
09:58 - 10:38 - Special mention to this especially careless driver BP69 PMX. Turned left at the roundabout behind me from the right hand lane then tailgated me for four blocks, then undertook in the bus lane before blasting up the inside of a queue of cars and shooting through the crossing whilst flashing amber was showing and there could well have been pedestrians that she would be unable to see due to the cars in the queue, and a collision could have been catastrophic. Additionally the Ormeau Road is a 30mph limit which I was driving at and she seemed to be getting ahead at a fair whack. If you are reading this, stop driving like this before you kill someone or yourself!
10:54 - 11:06 - If turning right at a roundabout use the right hand lane. If turning left or going straight ahead use the left hand lane
