This documentary is the result of deep research into Vatican
archives, canonization records,In December 1907, workers opened a vault sealed for fifty-one
years. Everything had returned to earth — except one thing.
A portion of her brain had not decayed.
Mother Théodore Guérin left France in 1840 with five companions,
a stomach so damaged by illness she could eat only soft food, and
an unshakeable trust in Providence. In Indiana, she built schools
from nothing, survived a bishop who locked her in a room and
stripped her of her vows — then outlasted him when Rome replaced
him days later. She died in 1856. She became Indiana's first
canonized saint in 2006. And the earth, given fifty-one years,
could not fully take her back.
This documentary tells the full story: from Brittany to the Indiana
wilderness, from a farmhouse porch chapel to Saint Peter's Square.
