30-Mile Hockley Training Ride | Heat, Headwinds and Highway! | Building for RP7! 🚴‍♂️🔥 After last week's 22-mile training ride at Huffman, Team Chain Reaction returned to Hockley on August 15, 2026, ready to get back to the full 30-mile training distance as we continue preparing for the Rollin' Pearland Seven Ride (RP7) on September 12, 2026. This time we started on schedule, but the Texas heat was already making its presence known. The wind was swirling on the way out, while Jeff and Roderick spent much of the ride toward the front, helping keep the group moving. Clayton, and I worked together to maintain a strong and steady pace. We averaged approximately 16–18 mph, but the return trip brought a challenging headwind that gradually pulled down our average speed. Hockley also brought back its familiar undulating terrain, only this time the rolling sections seemed longer. Combined with the increasing heat, those hills started taking some of the sting—and strength—out of our legs. After last week's relatively easy Huffman ride, Hockley definitely made up for it! But that's exactly why we're here. Training isn't always about riding fast or riding farther. It's about learning how to handle heat, hills, headwinds, fatigue, and changing conditions while continuing to move forward. When we finally rolled back into the parking lot, there was definitely more sweat and fatigue than last week—but there was also a strong sense of accomplishment. We completed the full 30-mile distance and continued building the endurance and mental toughness we'll need when RP7 arrives. Every challenging ride is another step forward. Next week, we're heading back to Huffman! 👍 Like, Subscribe, and Comment if you're following our journey to RP7 or training for your own cycling event!
