Australia’s outer suburban areas ‘on fire’ in cost of living crisis

Redbridge Group Director Simon Welsh discusses the growing homelessness in Australia with outer suburban and regional areas particularly “on fire” in the cost-of-living crisis. Mr Welsh pointed out emerging reports of Victorians living in shanty towns as they are unable to afford housing. “We hear these stories of entrenched homeless communities now even in southeast Queensland,” he told Sky News Australia. “It causes people to feel not only empathy … but also to feel concerned, threatened about their own economic situation. “So those outer suburban regional centre areas are on fire – I think that’s going to be the battle over the next year.”
