The sounds of a Barred Warbler

It’s often described as: Rapid and jumbled, with lots of notes packed closely together. Harsh or scratchy, rather than sweet and melodic. A mixture of chattering, rattling, whistles and grating notes. It can sound as though the bird is muttering or rambling excitedly, with phrases tumbling into one another. There are occasional clearer, more musical notes buried within the rougher sounds. The song is often delivered from dense scrub or woodland, sometimes with the bird remaining hidden.
