Before becoming president of NAIS, Debra served as President of the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), leading the organization through a period of growth and supporting school leaders through the COVID-19 pandemic. That role followed 19 years at NAIS as general counsel, where she led advocacy efforts, supported schools through crises, and advanced governance best practices. Earlier in her career, Debra was a tax litigator at the Department of Justice.
