The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opposed former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke’s attempt to rely on her acquittal by a United Kingdom court in her ongoing legal battle to reclaim forfeited assets in Nigeria. In a further counter-affidavit filed before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, the EFCC urged the court to dismiss Diezani’s application, arguing that the proceedings and her acquittal at the Southwark Crown Court in London are not relevant to the issues before the Nigerian court. The development follows an earlier decision by Justice Ekwo allowing Diezani to submit additional evidence relating to the UK proceedings. Her legal team is seeking to rely on the June 17, 2026 Southwark Crown Court decision, in which she was discharged and acquitted of criminal allegations of bribery. Diezani is currently challenging the forfeiture and proposed sale of assets linked to her in Nigeria. Watch the full report for the latest details on the EFCC’s position, Diezani Alison-Madueke’s legal challenge and what the development could mean for the ongoing asset forfeiture case. #efcc #nigerianews #FederalHighCourt #SouthwarkCrownCourt #assetforfeiture #nigeriannews #BreakingNews #tvcentertainment #yourviewtvc
