Plaine Morte — The Plain of the Death After being misinformed about the difficulty and duration of this run, I headed up to Plaine Morte. Excited but completely unprepared. I brought only a small snack and one bottle of water. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the name. It described the danger far better than what I had been told at the mountain information desk in the valley of Crans-Montana: That it was an easy trail, with little climbing and no snow. So I expected to be back in no more than two hours. Not bringing a proper meal was a serious mistake. The fear of getting lost or running out of energy stayed with me throughout the run. I didn’t dare stop for a break; it felt safer to keep moving. So that’s what I did. I kept going—all day. This run became a much bigger adventure than I had expected and a powerful reminder to always do your own research, respect the mountains, and carry enough food and water. Enjoy the video, and please don’t repeat my mistakes!
