Can you bring your parents to Germany — and what does the visa process actually look like?
After almost 10 years in Germany, my parents finally came to visit me from Pakistan. They got their Schengen visit visa on the first try, but the process took a very long time: we applied for an appointment in November 2024 and finally got one in July 2026.
In this video, I walk through our full experience and explain what we did to make the application as strong as possible — including the documents, invitation letter, Verpflichtungserklärung, travel insurance, proof of ties to Pakistan, and how we prepared for the embassy interview.
I also talk about whether you can bring your parents to Germany long-term, the Blue Card route, and why a regular visit visa may make more sense for many families.
This is based on my family’s personal experience, so always check the latest requirements from your local German embassy before applying.
If you’re planning to bring your parents or family to Germany, I hope this makes the process a little clearer.
