Jungheinrich’s ETR pantograph reach truck forklifts are helping supply chain companies like LeanCor, based in Florence, KY. Operating on a 24/7 schedule, LeanCor relies on its fleet of Jungheinrich ETR reach trucks for bulk order picking, put-away and replenishment. Key features of the reach forklift, like its tight turning radius, compact lift truck design and long run times – up to two shifts on one charge – help give LeanCor the competitive edge they need to support their customers. Learn more about the user experience with Jungheinrich’s ETR reach truck forklifts and how they helped LeanCor improve their material handling operations and meet their business goals. Video Transcript: At LeanCor, the mission is to advance the world’s supply chains, and here at our facility, we’re running the Jungheinrich trucks to show customers that what we say on paper is actually what we’re doing in the facilities efficiently. There are companies all over the world that are wanting to practice lean manufacturing and lean thinking. We come in and help educate them on how to spread that culture throughout their business. We operate 3 shifts, 24/6, and usually we end up running 24/7. The three processes we use the Jungheinrich product for is our bulk order picking, put-away and our replenishment. A reach truck operator will drive down the aisle-way, pull the material down from the racking and stow it in a location on the ground, or pick it and ship it. My favorite feature about the reach truck is the fact it’s able to literally circle a 90-degree radius and sit still in the spot it’s in. We have several tight aisles here at LeanCor and the Jungheinrich truck helps me get the job done in those aisles efficiently. We’re constantly spinning, constantly driving in and out of aisles and tight spaces. I’m able to spin that wheel really freely and really fast when I need to. Having 2 to 3 extra inches really helps the operators maneuver in those tight aisles. The controls were very easy to learn. It took me roughly 30 minutes to pick them up compared to the Clark and the Raymonds, which were a little more complex. When I started with LeanCor, I’d never driven a Jungheinrich truck, but after about a week I had the controls down and it just felt natural to me. The old (forklifts) trucks I’ve operated before, when you get real high, they would sway a lot. When you’re up really high with the Jungheinrich (forklifts), the outriggers stay where they are and there’s very little sway, allowing you to operate the truck very easily. We operate 8-hour shifts and they’re running the equipment about 7 hours of those 8 hours. We don’t change (our forklift) batteries here. We just run the truck throughout the shift and opportunity charge. The quick-charge system is definitely more efficient and it’s a cost savings. The equipment that we have is top of the line and really stands out compared to what we used to have. We get a lot of feedback from the (reach truck) operators who have driven different trucks in the industry and then drive the Jungheinrich (warehouse products). At first they’re like, “Oh this is different,” but once they’re here for a week or 2 it starts to turn into their favorite truck.
