Hillhouse - Paper Wings

Hillhouse brings its audiences the best of bluegrass, from the archetypal mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo, and fiddle instrumentation, to the harmonies that happen when all members of a band can sing. What Isaac May, Taylor Shuck, Ellie Miller, and Andy Brown bring to the table, though, puts a spin on these classic Bluegrass elements. Branding themselves as “progressive bluegrass”, Hillhouse features elements in their songs that are more experimental, playing around with what bluegrass means as a genre and as a sound. Ultimately, with members who seem just as comfortable singing as they do playing instruments, Hillhouse’s music radiates the joyful energy of bluegrass with the youth of its members. They’re part of the generation striving to keep bluegrass evolving while still paying homage to its traditional roots.
