Nearly 30 years of Halloween memories… and a tradition built on family, fun, and giving back. If you've ever walked through Fergie’s Fun Fright in Boulder City, you may have wondered how this unique Halloween tradition got started. The answer goes back to 1997. That’s when Charlene Ferguson and her father, James, built their first haunted house together. Father and daughter shared a genuine love for Halloween and enjoyed creating something that could bring families and neighbors together. But the tradition took on a much deeper meaning in 2002, when James passed away. Charlene carried on the Halloween spirit and eventually brought the haunted house back in 2010, when her oldest son — whose birthday is October 29 — wanted a Halloween-themed birthday party. What began as a birthday celebration became an annual tradition. For years, Charlene created new Halloween displays, continuing the tradition until she moved away in 2019. Then came Boulder City. Charlene became a Boulder City resident in 2022, and in October 2023, Fergie’s Fun Fright made its Boulder City debut. And there was a reason for the name. “Fergie’s Fun Fright” was named in honor of her father, James. So what you see today is more than a Halloween maze. It is a tradition that began with a father and daughter, survived the loss of a loved one, continued through the years, and eventually found a new home right here in Boulder City.
