Teapot Made with Crushed Brick and Ash Glaze – Stunning Ceramic Texture

I Used Crushed Brick on This Teapot | You’ll Be Surprised This small, wheel-thrown teapot is made for individual use and crafted from light, grogged stoneware clay containing 0.5 mm chamotte. The body offers a subtle texture and structural stability during high-temperature firing. It was fired in an electric kiln to 1300°C (cone 10). The surface is coated with a self-formulated ash glaze composed of locally sourced red earthenware clay, hardwood ash, and high-kaolin ball clay. This glaze matures into a semi-glossy, variegated surface with warm, earthy tones and subtle movement during firing. Before the glaze dried, finely crushed red brick (high in iron oxide and silica) was sieved and sprinkled over the surface. These particles fully melt during the firing process, reacting with the glaze and forming distinctive, irregular black speckles. The resulting surface bears visual echoes of wood-fired ceramics, despite being fired in an oxidizing electric atmosphere. #ceramicsoul #clay #Teapot Se hur lera förvandlas till en tekanna!
