BIO SHOCK (2016): Deep Dive

BioShock is a first-person shooter released in 2007 by Irrational Games. You play as Jack, a man who survives a plane crash and discovers the underwater city of Rapture. What was supposed to be a utopian society has completely fallen apart, leaving the city filled with mutated residents, dangerous machines, and the remains of the people who once lived there. The game is meant to be more than just a traditional shooter. BioShock mixes gunplay with exploration, RPG elements, supernatural abilities called Plasmids, environmental storytelling, and a heavy focus on atmosphere and narrative. The idea is to let you explore Rapture, piece together what happened, and decide how you want to approach different situations. When it released, BioShock was extremely well received. Critics praised its atmosphere, writing, world design, story, and the way it blended shooting with deeper themes and player choice. It currently holds a 96/100 critic score on Metacritic, while users rate it around 8.7/10. Players especially connected with Rapture itself. Even today, it's often remembered as one of gaming's most memorable settings, although some criticisms have been aimed at the combat, linearity, and certain gameplay mechanics DISCLAIMER I harp on Bioshock a bunch in this video but I would like to make it clear. I LOVE BIOSHOCK, but the gameplay which we are here to visit in 2026 is not good, the world the atmosphere and the story are fantastic but the gameplay is stale clunky and a bit off in later stages of the game! Do not let this critique of Bioshock turn you off from playing it!
