Barry Clifford, a world renowned Explorer celebrated for his discovery of the Pirate Ship The Whydah was in Winnipeg at the Manitoba Museum for the opening of Real Pirates, an exhibit that tells the story of the ship he discovered and the cargo the ship was carrying. Clifford is credited with finding the only confirmed real Pirate Treasure ever recovered in the world, stolen from over 50 ships by the Whydah's Pirate Captain Black Sam Bellamy making him the wealthiest pirate in recorded history.
"Real Pirates: The Untold Story of the Whydah from Slave Ship to Pirate Ship" showcases over 200 artifacts discovered by Barry Clifford such as daily objects used aboard the ship, weaponry, jewelry, and silver coins from all over the world that visitors can touch, plus a replica of the actual ship that visitors can board.
Barry Clifford has recently made world headlines for his claim to have discovered the shipwreck of the Santa Maria, Christopher Columbus's flagship, off the coast of northern Haiti.
