The catfish in a fried basket weighed about 2 pounds and was barely 2 years old. Its biggest relatives can weigh 646 pounds, more than most male grizzly bears, and almost nobody eats them. Virginia wants its invasive blue catfish gone, with no daily limit on the tidal James, yet you may keep only one fish longer than 32 inches. So why do we only eat the small ones?
