Nova Scotia, Canada is a place full of water. Ocean, lakes, steams and everything in between can be seen across the entirety of this beautiful province. Even within the "sister cities" of Halifax and Dartmouth one is connected with water. In fact, the water found in the famous Halifax harbour, is the same that can be found throughout the province via a channel of water, called the Shubenacadie (Shubie) Canal. Today, we are working with some "random guy" (Paul) to take on this famous stretch of water in Shubie Park. The waterway is connected through a series of locks - which we'll learn about in a future video. For this particular video, we are going to be kayaking through a section called the "deep cut" where workers couldn't rely on the naturally deep lakes that connect the water way with the ocean, but instead needed to cut a trench to allow for cargo and military ships to get from one side of the province to the other. Although I have spent some time in a kayak before, Akane really hasn't. Regardless of whether you've been kayaking Shubie canal or any other waterway doesn't really matter, as kayaking in Dartmouth (along this stretch anyway) is easy, and doesn't require any experience. A special thank you goes out to Wildwood Water Sports (https://wildwoodwatersports.ca) for hosting us and giving us a good deal on a kayak rental in order to showcase this amazing place.
