Long before the first Spanish explorers arrived, our ancestors lived high in the San Bernardino Mountains at Yuhaaviat, where pine trees covered the lands near present day Big Bear Lake. The “People of the Pines” were known as the Yuhaaviatam Clan of Maara’yam.
