Thailand is facing another round of heavy rain as flooding continues across Bangkok and 27 provinces, with about 3.14 million people affected. On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, water levels were finally easing along the Chao Phraya River, but the eastern flood zone remained under pressure and could take until mid-November to drain. Chachoengsao remains one of the hardest-hit areas as water moves downstream from Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri into the Bang Pakong River. Some communities are still under chest-high water, while rescue crews and high-clearance vehicles continue helping residents. Officials are also dealing with polluted floodwater and difficult drainage. Bangkok has improved, but new flooding returned to parts of the city after overnight rain. Roads in Bang Kapi, Min Buri and central districts were affected, while crews used additional pumps and removed large amounts of floating debris. Farther west, rising water also reached the area around Phra Pathom Chedi. The next major threat is already approaching. A high-pressure system from China is colliding with warm monsoon air, while a monsoon trough and the approaching northeast monsoon add moisture across the region. Bangkok faces three consecutive days of possible heavy to very heavy rain from Saturday through Monday, October 12. In this video, we examine the continuing eastern floods, Bangkok's recovery, the weather system moving down from China, and the new rain threat arriving just as the IMF and World Bank meetings begin. Global Weather covers natural disasters and extreme weather events as they develop, using sourced reporting and avoiding unsupported speculation.
