Polavaram Left Main Canal Opened at Tallapalem 🚧🚰 | Godavari Water Reaches North Andhra
A major milestone for North Andhra has been achieved as Godavari water was released through the Polavaram Project Left Main Canal on September 2, 2026.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formally operated the regulator at Payakaraopeta in Anakapalli district and performed Jala Harathi, marking the start of the Godavari water flow towards North Andhra. �

The 213-km Polavaram Left Main Canal has been developed through challenging terrain, including tunnels, aqueducts and a siphon beneath the Yeleru river.

The government has also proposed expanding the Left Main Canal and linking it with Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi, with the aim of taking Godavari water towards upland areas of Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam and Srikakulam.
