Nine Russian Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters stop to refuel in a wheat field near Tokmak before dawn, ready to lead a counterattack near Robotyne. Their commander's rules are strict: move the field every week, park a hundred meters apart, never stay on the ground longer than thirty minutes. Then a morning fog keeps them on the ground.
In this scenario, a Ukrainian drone operator watches the field through the fog with a thermal camera, and two HIMARS launchers leave their hiding place for a few minutes to fire two American ATACMS missiles, each carrying 950 bomblets, while Russian Orlan and Lancet drones hunt for them.
Weapon figures are sourced: ATACMS M39 (range up to 165 km, about 1,700 kg, 950 bomblets, about $1.5 million each), M142 HIMARS (crew of 3, 6 rockets or 1 ATACMS), Ka-52 (crew of 2, about 300 km/h, 30 mm cannon, up to 12 Vikhr missiles, ejection seats), Lancet (range about 40 km).
