The game takes place in the Halcyon system, where the player awakes from cryosleep, soon discovering that most of the passengers on their ship are still in hibernation. With a strong focus on roleplaying, the player is able to make choices that cause the plot to change as they progress through the game. The Outer Worlds features well-written dialogue and lore, with the various factions, planets, characters and their interactions bringing the world to life.
