I made this from a car alternator and a diesel engine It works really good and the welding current can be adjusted by the rpm of the engine You will need to bypass the internal diodes in the alternator, they won't handle the current of welding and also apply the engine charging output to the alternator rotor which will vary the voltage and current with the engine speed
