A monologue from DEFIANCE, a South African post-apartheid Political Theatre play

Inspired by the 2012 disbandment of the ANC Youth League by the governing party, ANC, DEFIANCE tackles contradictions with the "broad church" phenomenon in the ANC and highlights the discord between the veterans (with struggle credentials) within the party, who advocate for a "disciplined" approach to matters, and the militant youth of the Julius Malema era, who demanded change, NOW!! The play, written and directed by Eddie Thaba, was staged at the South African State Theatre in March 2019. The monologue is delivered by veteran actor, Sello "Oom" Ramolahloane.
