Narkasur in Goa: We Witnessed the Madness Before Diwali! 👹

We thought we were heading out to capture a small pre-Diwali tradition in Goa. Little did we know, the night had a completely different plan for us! 👹🔥 As darkness fell, the streets came alive with deafening drums, music, and towering Narkasur effigies being prepared for the celebrations. We even witnessed the making of smaller Narkasur figures as the excitement built up across the neighbourhood. But here's what makes this tradition fascinating: the preparations continue late into the night, with communities bringing their larger-than-life demon figures to life just hours before Diwali! For those unfamiliar with the tradition, Narkasur comes from Hindu mythology. His defeat by Lord Krishna symbolises the victory of good over evil. In Goa, the tradition is marked by colourful effigies, energetic processions, and community competitions. The figures are burnt in the early hours of Naraka Chaturdashi, just before Diwali. What started as a simple filming plan turned into a night of unexpected discoveries, thunderous drums, giant demons, and an unforgettable glimpse into Goa's culture. This is Goa before Diwali, and trust us, it hits differently! 🔥👹 Watch till the end to experience the madness, the tradition, and the incredible energy of Goa's Narkasur celebrations.
