This presentation explores the potential for multi-sensory and multimodal pedagogy to counter the increasingly boundaried and formalised limits of intellectual production in a rapidly fauxtomating world. Non-verbal, multisensory media is seen to offer opportunities to both extend the sensory registers of critical enquiry, and offer meaningful possibilities for association and discussion via collective exploration and reflection, both in academic and professional contexts. Working with non-narrative media at Level 1 Art, Design, the author intentionally designed pedagogic strategies in opposition to dominant textual or bureaucratic forms of production in art and design education. The paper speculates on a path for neurodivergent students through the university, but also the collaborative production of new knowledge for all via the acknowledgement of perceptive and sensory diversity.
