Paul Hawkyard's first appearance on 'Playbus'

From circa 1993 - the Yorkshire actor Paul Hawkyard makes his first EVER appearance as Paul the Bus Driver (one of the many TV presenters) on 'The Whybird Stop' on the much loved 1990s TV Hit 'Playbus' (which was later renamed as 'Playdays'). The puppet Whybird (a terribly bossy but lovable character) was brilliantly voiced & indeed operated by Birmingham's Ellie Darvill. Paul Hawkyard filmed a handful of episodes for 'Playdays' but was eventually replaced by another presenter. His episodes were studio based plus out on location with Sally Preisig as Peggy Patch & Sue Monroe as Poppy the Cat plus Patsy Byrne (from Black Adder plus Narnia) as Betty the Tea Lady! Unlike some of the other presenters and people involved with 1990s Kid's TV, both Ellie & Paul still act and perform in various shows (pantomimes & plays etc.) back in England plus Paul sometimes does Pantomime in York and here in Dubai. The Whybird puppet was made by Robin Stevens - famous for 'Tot's TV' plus 'Rosie & Jim' in the golden 1990s - the best years EVER!!!!! Ta for watchin!!!
