My company, FTC, performed geophysical studies to determine a correlation between compression wave velocity of subsurface soil and rock as related to actual installed pile depths to develop required capacity at 18 completed bridge projects where we had also performed the construction phase dynamic testing of the piles using the PDA (Pile Driving Analyzer) . In addition, FTC developed a data analytics application called PileTrac to provide a highly curated database and interactive dashboards for correlating the results of historical pile installation and capacity testing results for hundreds of bridge projects. These tools developed by FTC have been utilized to optimize the pile order length for a pile supported bridge project which resulted in significant project cost savings. In this video, I discuss the pile optimization results for one project in particular: The Amidon Bridge replacement project in Wichita, Kansas.
