Can you build an aquarium with almost ZERO visible silicone? In this video, I’m building a custom 20 × 14 × 8 inch shallow aquarium from cut glass, with one main goal — achieving a clean, minimal silicone finish. There are already plenty of videos showing how to stick four pieces of glass together. So instead of making another basic aquarium-building tutorial, I wanted to focus on the small techniques that make a huge difference to the final appearance and finishing of the tank. In this build, I’ll show you: • How I mark the glass before applying silicone • How to use masking tape for cleaner silicone lines • Why a silicone gun makes the application much easier • How much silicone to apply and why the bonding area needs to be completely filled • The glass assembly arrangement I use • How to remove excess silicone while it's still fresh • How to clean up cured silicone with a blade • How long I let the silicone cure before testing • How I perform the 24-hour leak test • And finally, the completed shallow aquarium The goal isn't simply to make a tank that holds water. It's to make one that looks clean enough to feel professionally made. And this is only the beginning. 🌿 In the next video, I'll be scaping this shallow aquarium. What kind of Aquascape would you create in a tank this size? Let me know in the comments. 👇 If you enjoyed the build, subscribe to Scape Lens and follow along for the next episode. Sound Credits:
