New Bulleit '87 Review: First Bourbon-Rye Blend Ever (Watch This Before You Buy)

🥃 Bulleit '87 is the first time this brand has put bourbon and rye in the same bottle. I review the new $30 core whiskey, how it is made, and whether it is worth buying. '87 is not an age statement. It marks 1987, the year Bulleit was founded. This is the first new permanent core bottle since Bulleit 95 Rye in 2011. How Bulleit '87 is made: The bourbon is distilled, barreled, and aged at Bullet Distilling Company in Shelbyville, Kentucky. The rye is distilled and aged in Indiana, then sent to Shelbyville. Both components age a minimum of 4 years. They stay separate for a 4 to 6-week finish in their original barrels with toasted American oak and French oak staves. Only after that finish are the two whiskeys blended and bottled in Shelbyville at 90 proof (45% ABV). Bulleit has not published the blend ratio. Suggested retail is $29.99 for a 750 mL bottle.
