Ted Lasso season 4 episode 5 recap — Richmond go two down to Chelsea, three relationships hit a wall in one afternoon, and Ted makes the boldest call of his season by suspending Alice Chilton.
Last week I explained why episode 4 felt long despite being excellent: great scenes, no forward story. Episode 5 is the control experiment — same warmth, same cast, but this week the stories MOVE, and it flies. Watch the episode 4 breakdown first.
Full recap: the loneliness photo that makes two players fix their own falling-out, Ted's half-time confession and the two-goal comeback, Beard finally watching Jane's play and the faked-pregnancy reveal, the stage manager whose name he never catches, Roy telling Keeley that dates six to ten were all the same woman, Matthijs's account of the London move and the very different version his daughter tells, drunk Rebecca on live TV, and Alice's suspension.
Plus the pattern nobody's naming: in this episode the women say the hard thing straight away and it fixes something — three men hold it in and get burned — and the two men who talk anyway are the two the show spent four seasons teaching.
And an honest one I can't settle: is Matthijs shading the truth, or is his daughter carrying her mother's version?

Was suspending Alice right or too harsh? Comment below — I think it's genuinely close.
