Byron's back for another silly adventure, but it's a little simpler than Operation Hibernation this time. Now, he needs to stock up on quarters to make a trip to his favorite arcade, but it's raining. Acid rain, to be precise, which isn't so gentle on a baby bear's delicate skin. One drop and he'll melt away, so use the barriers in the center of the screen for protection, and jump for those quarters! Grab six and you can move on to the next stage... with thinner barriers, and other nasty surprises. Okay, so I started this last week. I posted the first build on AtariAge on Thursday, I think. Four days later, the game is 80% complete, which is absolutely nuts. (HSWWSH, eat your heart out!) It's fully playable, but there's no sound, which I'm working on. (Oy gevalt, the sound processor on this thing is some kind of hell.) I also need to add purpose to the jump, because the only thing Byron actually needs it for is grabbing quarters. This started out as a Money Wars clone, but Batari BASIC gave me two options: either make Byron entirely orange and get both missiles and the ball, or actually give him some semblance of detail and lose one of the missiles. I stand by my choice, but the game doesn't work as intended with just two projectiles... it needs new play mechanics to offset that. Right now I'm thinking of punching holes in the bottom of the playfield, forcing Byron to jump to make progress. The game functions as-is (and is pretty tough in its current state!), but I feel like there could be more here. And the bedeviled sound, yeech. Anybody want to do that part for me? No? Hmph, that's what I thought.
